Jackaroo Baked Beans

These home made baked beans have a little more kick than your regular supermarket canned variety. Their pretty easy to make and it’s very satisfying to serve up something you have made yourself.

Serve with a thick slice of wholemeal toast. Nothing else is needed.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 small Brown Onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Crushed Garlic
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 400 g Cannellini Beans drained & rinsed
  • 350 g Passata
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 slices Wholemeal Bread

Instructions
 

  • Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the onion & gently fry for 4 minutes until soft.
  • Add the garlic & paprika then cook for 1 minute more, stirring continuously.
  • Add the beans then the passata then the Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt & pepper then bring to a gentle simmer, then cook for 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Make sure you stir regularly.
  • Meanwhile toast the bread & place one piece on each serving plate. Spoon the beans over then serve.
